Detolf GET

Room Remodeling

Long time no blog! Apologies for the sudden hiatus: again, school has taken over my life. That, and I also had no idea what to blog about since school started. I’ve had a repeating pattern of school, work, rest, randomly go out, then repeat, but now I have things to share!

For the longest time, I’ve been meaning to get a shelving cabinet to house my figures. To be honest, I didn’t even know where to start! I’ve been eyeing on other people’s blogs about different kinds of shelving cabinets and ran across IKEA’s DETOLF. There’s an IKEA within 20 minutes from where I live, so I decided to check it out at their showroom and see how it looked. Once I saw it, I instantly fell in love.

I went to IKEA on my own to go pick it up, only to find it out that it’s a hefty 88 lbs. :x so I had to ask Lester to see if he could help me out. We took another trip and finally picked it up! How we got it into the van and into the house, I don’t know, but that’s okay :)

The thing is, before putting the cabinet into my room, I had to do some rearranging. Lots and lots of rearranging.

Exhaustion

Wriggle's tired ;(

Hello! I’m alive! Well, sort of. I’m still around, but I seriously haven’t partaken in anything otaku-related as of late: more specifically, since summer vacation ended. I still haven’t seen Endless Eight, I haven’t drawn anything on my tablet in ages, and I haven’t played Touhou much since Comiket. Deprivation! School’s pretty much taken over my life again.

Here’s how my schedule goes:

Monday: go to work from 8-10, do homework until 1:45, head to class at 2 and go through classes until 6:45.

Tuesday: go to work from 8-10, head to class from 11 until 2, then head to the 2nd job for work until 5.

Wednesday: work at the 2nd job from 8-12, head to class at 2 until 6:45.

Thursday: same as Tuesday, except I end at 2.

Friday: go on campus for work from 12-4.

Right when I get off class or go home, I’m already hitting the books. I’ve still got a lot to catch up on since changing my schedule last minute due to a prerequisite discrepancy. This doesn’t even include extracurricular events that I’m doing throughout the semester…eesh. Saturdays and Sundays are spent studying, studying, and more studying. Maybe I’ll go to a party, dinner, or another kind of event, but for the most part: I’ll be studying.

To the projects I took on during the summer and still haven’t finished, I apologize for my tardiness and I am getting as much stuff done to the best of my ability. For the people asking for help: for the meantime, I’ll have to politely decline. For those I haven’t talked to in ages: it’s a lot better to keep in touch with me through Twitter. I’m rarely on AIM since I’m not at a computer as much as I used to, and well, Twitter’s just a great way to keep in contact.

In the meantime, I’ll just have to keep on goin’. At least I have my birthday to look forward to this Saturday :) Update me with your lives! I’m afraid to go through what I’ve missed in my RSS feeds :x

Gifts from Japan

Jennice's gift

My friend, Jennice, is finally back home from Japan! After not seeing her for a year, we finally got to meet up, catch up on life, and go on a carne asada fries spree. Here’s her welcome back gift: a letter in Uglydoll stationary, an origami Chansey, origami boxes with lucky stars, and a Tamagotchi. Yay, welcome back!

101 things in 1001 days

91992bdbd0ee3cdf9da3442b1415ec993468533b

After being stuck in a rut for a good while and not motivated to do anything, I finally went ahead and started a “101 things in 1001 days” blog. I ran across the idea at Day Zero Project, where people everywhere have been making lists of attainable goals for themselves to accomplish in 2.75 years. I, too, wanted to make one and have finally compiled a list of goals that I’d like to get done.

Hopefully this’ll help me out in the long run and inspire me as well as others to do even more. If you are on Tumblr, feel free to follow my progress at my 101/1001 blog, Reach for the moon, immortal smoke. And yes, that is a Touhou reference. Alright, May 2012: bring it on!

What do you do to help motivate yourself if you’re feeling down and uninspired?

Right now, I’m in the process of getting rid of clutter from my room, whether it be clothes, old toys, and books. Upon cleaning, I ran across a tote bag full of old correspondence. The bag includes but is not limited to: old letters from penpals in junior high and high school, silly letters among friends, birthday cards, and old journals.

The bag has just been sitting there collecting dust and I really don’t know what to do with it. Part of me wants to part with much of it, but another part of me wants to keep everything.

Readers, this is where I ask for your advice. What do you suggest?
