The Big Bay Balloon Parade report will have to wait until I go get my adapter swapped. I’m too lazy to recreate my workflow settings on the desktop PC and I can wait until tomorrow to get that set up. In the meantime, here is an overdue Christmas loot haul post alongside the DVD box sets I scored, since all of the pictures are already uploaded onto Flickr. Not included are the clothes I scored later on at the malls. $5 tanktops and two articles of clothing from Old Navy for ~$15? I’m there

Finally got around to watching Gundam 00 episodes 12 & 13 subbed! I watched the raw for 12 when it first came out but didn’t have time to cap and 13 got subbed really early, so here’s a 2-in-1 post of my favorite caps of both episodes. Very image-heavy post after the jump!
On a tangent, has your power adapter for any kind of appliance gone kaput for you? My Magsafe Adapter for my MacBook Pro is pretty much on its deathbed and I can see the power cord corroding. Rest in peace, my first power adapter. Time to replace you at the Apple Store 
The next blog post will be all sorts of epic: I got to be a wrangler for the San Diego Star Wars Society/501st Legion San Diego Squad for the Big Bay Balloon Parade in downtown San Diego and was a photographer during the parade! Once I get my adapter replaced, I’ll post up pictures and a report about it. Stay tuned! I also still need to do a post about my Christmas loot. I’ll put priority first on the Star Wars post. Went to a Secret Santa exchange at Thien’s house to celebrate the holidays with good friends, good eats, and good times. This was probably the biggest celebration I’ve been to in a while, considering we barely fit into a decent group photo

Since it’s post-finals and I really needed some retail therapy, I treated myself to a nice 1/35 Lancelot from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. I was really close to getting the Vocaloid Miku 1/8 PVC, but I actually want the figma more than the PVC. I dropped by Trendy in Mitsuwa to check out their stash and found Vocaloid Nendoroids (namely Rin and Len), tons of MG Gundam kits, and…ah, so much more! I love going to Trendy. If I can’t find what I need at Rising Sun Creations, I go to Trendy.
Also ended up treating myself to an SD Exia! The 1/100 Overflag was there too but the fact that I actually saw an SD Exia in stock made me get it right away. Konata is ecstatic about both purchases
Before I left Mitsuwa, I went to the vendor in the front selling taiyaki and sweet potatoes. I treated my mom to some custard taiyaki and a sweet potato and she was as happy as can be.
I love Clairemont Mesa.
Have you ever treated yourself to anything because you’ve accomplished something really big (i.e. finishing up finals, getting a job, beating the hardest boss in a video game)?

Mom bought it for me at Best Buy since she couldn’t think of something to get for me on her own, so she told me to pick out what I’d want for Christmas. I’m surprised she actually got it for me, too. Thanks, Mom!
I’m not too sure what’s going to happen during Christmas week. It’s usually a chill time for me with the family and friends, but this week, I have jury duty. Out of all of the weeks, why this one?
I actually had to negotiate with the courts because this particular on-call lasted for a whole month instead of a week and they wanted me to do it during summer school. I had to fax over an explanation telling them that I was unable to do so and requested for a week-long on-call term rather than a month-long term. After some talks back and forth, I was able to get a week in December. Unfortunately, the only time I could do it was the last full week of December. Hopefully if I do get called in, it’s early on within the week rather than later on. Let’s just hope!
Is there anything for Christmas that you’re looking forward to in particular, whether it be being with family, certain gifts, or exclusive events?
I wish there were Stormtrooper formals! About a little more than a week ago, my boyfriend and I went over to a winter formal hosted by SDSU’s APSA. It was their last main gathering of the semester and a bunch of their general members came out to celebrate the end of the semester with us all.
Since it was the last main gathering for a long while, my boyfriend and I decided to roll out in style. Needless to say, a lot of heads turned our way when we came around.
Just to clarify, he’s a Shadow/Blackhole Stormtrooper. Common assumptions by people are that he’s Darth Vader or a TIE pilot. In reality, he, too, is a Stormtrooper! He’s just short and dark 
hahaha. Also, you can see Shadow Stormtroopers in the video game The Force Unleashed. They’re canon!

I know this’ll be inconsistent since I’m starting these at episode 11 for this blog (and I haven’t really been doing them consistently at my Livejournal either…darnit, school!), but rather than having a comprehensive review, I decided to put up some blogworthy screencaps of this week’s episode.

I’m definitely over finals and finals week hasn’t even begun. Right now marks the end of our dead week and tomorrow starts our dreaded week of finals. In an attempt to take a break from all things (or most things, at least) school-related, I’ve compiled a photo dump from my phone’s camera (an orange Samsung A737).
My main camera to use is a Canon Digital Rebel XT and I’ve yet to get myself a nice point-and-shoot just to carry around. It’s bothersome to lug around my DSLR especially to parties, but it’s so fun to use! My next big purchases for my camera are to get a decent macro lens and an external flash so that I don’t have to rely on my built-in flash for events. If anybody has any recommendations for decent point-and-shoot cameras, that would be greatly appreciated.

I just checked my Celestial Being planner (which I got from a past issue of Newtype Japan ages ago) and saw that today is Tieria’s birthday!
This goes out to the androgynous Gundam meister toting overcompensating bazookas and looks amazing in a dress. Too bad we’ll never know how old you really are (after all, your official date of birth marks an unknown year for you).

I was planning on doing silly screencap recaps on here regarding Gundam 00, but it’s kind of awkward doing it more than halfway through the season. I think I may end up doing them anyway, since I do find joy in doing them (and I did them a lot back at my Livejournal). I also find joy in capping badly drawn moments.
Alright, back to studying! Finals week is approaching and I already have 3 exams in the next 3 days! Augh.
Within the past couple of months, I finally delved into the world that is the Touhou Project. Touhou is a series of danmaku/bullet hell shoot ‘em ups made by Team Shanghai Alice. I’ve actually played Touhou a couple of years back but couldn’t get over constanty dying after playing less than 5 minutes of a level. I finally got back into it over the summer after getting the games from my boyfriend and trying them out for myself. From there, I fell in love with not only the plethora of characters, but with the musical arrangements.
I managed to snag this Touhou arrangement album a couple of days ago and thought, why not share what I think about it? This isn’t meant to be a full-fledged review, but more along the lines of how I’ve reacted to each track. More after the jump: (more…)
