I know this is a bit overdue, but I got busy after I got back from Los Angeles. To start off the recap, here’s one of many Mudkips Venus had been bombarded with
Lester and I headed up to Los Angeles on Wednesday afternoon and waited in the abominable line that was for pre-registration. Even the Comic-Con line went faster than it! Ugh. We got our passes after approximately 3 hours (or probably even more) wait time : Ah, well. At least Artist Alley registration went by quickly. We finished the night with a trip out to Hakata Ramen Shinsengumi in Gardena.
Thursday was Day 1 for Anime Expo. After fumbling with my PVC display set up (I didn’t think the tables would be THAT thick [cue "that's what she said"]), we finally got it up and running! Pictures to follow up for Day 2 since I want to do this in chronological order.
Thursday was spent mostly scoping out the hall and seeing what to buy
I was more stoked for the festivities to come later on that night: the Yoshiki Foundation benefit concert! I’ve been a huge fan of X Japan since high school and was even more stoked that there was going to be an acoustic set! AND SUGIZO WAS GOING TO BE THERE. ASDFKLJAWEJKr.
Mmm, nurse.
MvC3 poster on the bus stop. Any of you anticipating this game? I want to try Deadpool. Gotta wait until SDCC ’10 to try it out!

The most adorable Miku cosplayer EVER. She busted out her leeks from her stroller. WHAT A BOSS.
An awesome Koffing gijinka cosplay. Homeboy was awesome
After Day 1 was over, Lester, Venus, and I headed over to Club Nokia for the Yoshiki Foundation benefit concert. After waiting in line for about 2 hours (in which I got a lot of playtime of Pokemon HeartGold), we were finally let into Club Nokia! I wasn’t too fond of the fashion show and the wait time, but it was all worth it in the end.
I want an X Japan pachinko machine for myself
The only picture I took on my cell phone of Yoshiki, Toshi, and Sugizo
I was too much in awe during the performance. That, and I forgot to bring my point and shoot
One of the best things about the concert was not just the acoustic performance of “I.V.”, but the music video shoot for their new song, “Born To Be Free!” Here’s someone’s footage of one of the takes:
Phew, onto Day 2!
I caught a slight cold sometime during this time
But that didn’t stop me from my convention high, haha. Here are the tablemate comrades
Working hard? Hardly working?
Rock and Roll Clown from Metalocalypse o_o
An awesome Porco Rosso. If you haven’t seen this film, GO SEE IT NOW.
We asked the cosplayer about their Zoids Liger cosplay. They said it was their first ever cosplay. Absolutely stunning!
Making new friends in the Artist Alley
Thank you to all those who connected with me! My Pokemon received some nice gifts.
I’ll make another post with the next two days since I don’t want this post to go on for too long. Photo credits go to Lester and Venus!
