The highly anticipated 2D fighting game Skullgirls hits the PlayStation Network today! Despite it’s cartoon-ey look, this game is no ordinary fighter…
With the current string of fighting games available, this title is a quiet favorite. Skullgirls definitely packs a punch! The game gives players a choice to yield teams of 1-3 characters based on a point system similar to the SvC Chaos series.
The artwork is done in high definition with vibrant cell-shaded coloring. The voices are done by popular and accomplished English Anime dub voice actresses like Christine Marie Cabanos and Christina Vee (both of whom worked on K-On). Taking steps such as these shows the developers took care in making a game that would cater to fighting game fans.
Having played the demo last year at Comic-Con, the game seems really fun. The engine played a lot like other games with cross over/assist features like Marvel vs. Capcom. I am excited to see what improvements they made to the system and the killer combos that each character can unleash.
For more in-depth information, there a Wiki devoted to the game providing back stories and moves for all the characters (Skullgirls Wiki). Skullgirls is now available on PlayStation Network and will be tomorrow on XBOX LIVE Arcade.
