We’re traveling to the Belmont Park boardwalk at Mission Beach for #TheWeekender!
These days, finding a boardwalk amusement park is a rarity. Luckily, you can find Belmont Park right where Mission Beach hits the water.
Belmont Park is a great place to re-live some childhood memories. There’s all sorts of carnival rides to check out such as Vertical Plunge, Liberty Carousel, Tilt-A-Whirl, Speedway Bumper Cars and Krazy cars to name a few.
The Giant Dipper roller coaster, constructed in 1925, is one of the mainstays of Belmont Park. In fact, the original wooden coaster is on the National Register of Historic Places! Definitely worth a ride for you daredevils (see if you survive, just kidding)!
In addition to the rides, there’s an arcade with a laser tag maze inside it. There are various food/dessert shops to enjoy as well. Be sure to check out the Sun Diego where they sell beach wear and even surfboards at a discounted price! If you’re into San Diego souvenirs, check out Wings.
Keep in mind that summer parking at Mission Beach is a bit crazy. Plan to arrive early. Rides may also be a bit pricey ($1 per ticket x 4 ticket average). If money is an issue, you can always go to the beach instead. However, Belmont Park has a lot to offer so check it out!
