Cheer up kids! The Rocket Summer is here for #MusicMonday!
Singer/Songwrite Bryce Avary started an experimental band in the early 2000′s. After trying (and failing) to write songs he finally recorded and released his first full-length album Calendar Days in February 2003.
Despite being called The Rocket Summer, it is in essence a one-man show. Avary recorded every instrument and primary vocals on the album. What We Hate, We Make even features a children’s choir! Way to get creative on an album.
The album kicks off cheerfully with Cross My Heart telling about a (not so) secret moment of happiness. Saturday and Skies So Blue are not your typical love songs but the love shines through. Mean Thoughts and Cheap Shots will make you bulletproof.
The music Avary writes is seriously infectious. It’s hard not feel happy when Calendar Days is playing in your headphones. Pick this album up and brighten your day!
