The Basics
The name’s Mylene Flare Jenius. Often goes by Lene for short. A 23-year old Filipina-American hailing from San Diego, California, aspiring to be a web developer. Currently majoring in Multimedia and Information Decision Systems and minoring in Asian Studies at SDSU. A Virgo by sign, but Libra by traits. Fiend of the Internets since who knows when.
I have been an anime fan since Sailor Moon’s arrival to American television in the mid 1990′s and have since expanded my interest in its subculture. It’s influenced me so much that it actually sparked my interest in illustration. I’ve been illustrating since 2000 and, although I don’t do it as much, I still go at it from time to time. I was once a frequenter of Gaia Online as well so if you were ever dabbling into the Requests and Commissions forum a couple of years ago, you may have run into me there.
I’m also a gamer girl, with my favorite genres being RPGs and puzzle games. A fun fact: in 2007, I won 3rd place in a Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo HD Remix tournament at Comic Con. I’ll crush your gems in an instant. I’m also a fan of the Touhou Project, although I’ve yet to survive Lunatic mode. I’ll just stick with Easy and Normal mode for now. Within the last two years, I’ve just started to collect anime figurines, gunpla, and urban toys. It may be an expensive hobby in the long run, but it sure keeps me happy.
I also have a fascination for paper crafts, specifically modular origami, and have recently picked up knitting. I hope to learn how to knit more than a scarf one of these days. I also hope to achieve finishing up all of my lucky star paper and constructing a mobile of 1000 cranes.
I’m also a lucky woman, having dated my boyfriend, Lester, since 2004 and still going strong. He, too, is quite a character of his own. In fact, he’s the Shadow Stormtrooper that’s right next to me in the picture above. I’m proud to say that I’m dating a Stormtrooper.
About rhythmemotion.net
After years of being an “wandering interwebz nomad” (thanks, Hau!), I finally buckled down and bought myself a domain. The phrase, “rhythm emotion,” is paying homage to the first Gundam series I’ve been exposed to: Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. “RHYTHM EMOTION” is the 2nd opening theme song done by TWO-MIX. If you got that reference even before arriving at this page, I commend you. Prior to high school, I was shown the wonders of Gundam Wing on Toonami (R.I.P.) and Duo Maxwell’s Deathscythe. To this day, it’s still one of my most favorite anime.
I’ve always thought to myself: if I were to get a domain for myself, what would I actually use it for? Just recently, it hit me. Launched on December 2, 2008, the purpose of rhythmemotion.net is to have a means of sharing my love for my hobbies and interests with others, whether it be anime, video games, figures, music, or whatever. I’ll also be using this blog as a means to share current artwork with others, since I’ve yet to construct a portfolio for myself.
Web hosting and domain registration was purchased using Bluehost.com. Blogging courtesy of WordPress. Theme is a slightly modified version of Misty Look by Sadish (one day, I’ll learn how to code my own theme, but for now, this’ll suffice). Photo in the header is fanart of Fujiwara no Mokou of Touhou 7: Imperishable Night. For contact information, please inquire here.
