Anime Expo 2011 recap!

7 Jul
Img_3580

This was my 3rd year attending Anime Expo and 2nd year as an Artist Alley participant. This is also my first time being a sponsored artist! *_* I was there on behalf of Anime Conji alongside Venus and Deanna: SO COOL. Our table was situated at the very end of the 2nd aisle: B-64. Tons of traffic kept coming through: we kept getting bombarded! That was definitely a good thing considering I got to meet tons of people.

Badge pickup was the best thing ever. Since we were part of Artist Alley and checked in beforehand, we just had to wait about 10-15 minutes on Day 0 before actually picking up our badges. Definitely a lot better than waiting 3+ hours in line for our badges.

We celebrated Day 0 with a trip to Castle BBQ (lol a B grade AYCE BBQ restaurant) for Jennice’s birthday. $10 AYCE Korean BBQ: BEST THING EVER. I can’t even recall how much brisket we ate! I hope we didn’t anger the workers because we definitely ordered a lot of brisket, LOL.

By the way, this post is extremely photo-intensive. LET’S GOOOO AFTER THE CUT.

AX Day 4

6 Jul

Img_3878

Don’t mind the “Please do not take photos!” stickies. We actually had to put them up halfway through the con because people were flocking to the table, taking pictures, and leaving. They didn’t even bother to strike a conversation or anything. Ugh, the nerve of people :( Please be considerate of artists next time!

Anyway, highlight breakdown once more!

-Exchanging contact information with new friends and the like, hooray!

-Suddenly bombarded with commissions, but hey: it was fun regardless :) Seeing the joy of people’s faces afterwards makes me feel complete

-Causing a ruckus while breaking down the Anime Conji fort

-Anime Expo Artist Alley confirmed for next year?! Boo to them raising prices for tables, though. At least supply us with snacks, water, and the like :(

-Rushing out of AX to head down to Porto’s in Downey. Holla at them cheese rolls and guava strudels!

-Ending the time spent in LA with all the barbeque in the world for the 4th of July and facepainting

-Driving back down to San Diego blasting nothing but eurobeat and watching all the fireworks go off :D

Phew! A more comprehensive post will be in the works now that that’s all done with. Lester just took out the photos from his camera, so time to compile! Next convention: SAN DIEGO COMIC CON INTERNATIONAL, YES

DAY 3

Oh gosh, Day 3. Highlights!

-FAKKU x Culture Japan meetup!
-Being labeled a Mirai figma hoarder ;-; DON’T JUDGE ME
-Getting my print and figma signed by Danny and my badge signed by Jacob of FAKKU :D
-Meeting old and new comrades alike!
-Getting bombarded even more at the table ffgdhhrfdgh
-Ending the day with a trip to Round 1 :)

Phew, one more day to cover. After I’m done with all the days, I’ll compile a more comprehensive mini-briefing :D

AX Day 2

6 Jul

P1375

Didn’t really get to blog much after day 1 because of me falling asleep right after working on commissions :( womp womp

Recollecting thoughts from Twitter, let’s goooo!

Highlights:
-Relaxing during the bomb scare :x I’m not sure how things were like outside the exhibit hall, but we were straight chillin’ inside :p
-Sold out of Yun stickers wtf
-MAD CATZ GOLD TE KEYCHAINS
-Getting bombarded by people left and right
-Meeting new folks and chatting it up with fellow table mates :)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t go to the Miku concert, but that may have been a good thing! I knocked out right after dinner and didn’t wake up until the next day D: oops.

AX Day 1

2 Jul

P1366

If you go to Artist Alley, Venus and I are at the end of aisle 1500 near the Toyota banner in the back :) we are also near an ocarina vendor.

I’ve never had so much traffic at a booth before: I didn’t get a break until one hour before the hall closed! 5 hours of straight sales and work, oh my god. I’m not used to this.

The highlights of my day:
- making a couple happy with their commission. Wish I had taken a pic of the picture: they were so awesome and friendly!
- seeing Morning Rescue cosplayers with actual Morning Rescue bottles
- seeing Yun and Yang fans :3 hehe
- bumping into Potatohead/AJ and Markman/Mark and getting hugs!
- talking with Danny Choo after the exhibit hall closed, taking pictures, and exchanging business cards :)

Best Day 1 ever. Here’s to more good times for the rest of the con. Please visit the table and say hi! Row B, table 64 :)

Mirai Suenaga print for AX

27 Jun

Miraisuenagaprint_web

An Anime Expo-exclusive print of Danny Choo’s Mirai Suenaga in her winter outfit. Danny’s given permission to sell artwork of his mascots at AX so why not make a print? Pick one up and get it signed at the Fakku x Culture Japan Meetup! I mean… :x

First time using Painter 12, too. What a huge jump from Painter 7 (yes, I’ve been using Painter 7 all this time, don’t judge me :<)

I will also be selling stickers of the Suenaga sisters so be on the lookout for those as well.
